dayton

i took a week off work so i could go to ernie's bachelor party
we went whitewater rafting in west virginia
the trip we did was the gauley marathon
23 miles of rafting with over 100 rapids
it was a blast
i fell out quite a few times, guess i'm top-heavy...
after the trip i went back to dayton and have been hanging out with nick
tomorrow i'm going up to matt and katie's wedding
it'll be nice to see who comes in for it

swords

the class got to use the foils for the first time tonight
they were pretty excited
and i got my sabre stuff so i can fence foil and sabre in the next competition (woohoo)
now i have to figure out a good way to store and transport all this gear
i might even want to design and make a bag for it all
or i could jsut buy a golf bag hard case
i'll decide that later

hooray fencing

went to purdue this weekend
fenced foil at 'friday night fights'
i came in 7th of 7 (so dead last in case that was difficult for you) but it was great to fence again after over a year, even if it was foil instead of sabre
after the tournament i met john's roomie and crashed on the floor
saturday i met up with some of the dancers for lunch and spent some time on campus
then that evening watched minority report at cracker-butt's
crashed on the futon
more chatting with john and his roomie
some chatting with one of my former not-roommates
then back home
it was a good time and i was definately glad to get some fencing in again, i'm pretty excited about some of the upcoming tournaments

i'm gonna do it

i only have 4 kids for the fencing class
but i'm going to teach it anyway
so now i have to order equipment and finish the rest of the planning

other than that, i'm going to 'friday night fights - foil' tomorrow so that's exciting and i'll be able to hang out with some friends up at purdue while i'm up

social contact

i went to lexington this weekend and visited brittany
it was nice to be able to get out and see people again
i don't have a lot of social interaction in bedford, and i was working 7 days a week this summer, so other than going to matt/laurie wedding in june i haven't seen many people
but now i have free weekends again so next weekend i'm going to purdue to fence and hang out with dancers and whomever else i still know there, and then after that is ernie's bachelor party so i'll be fighting the rapids and having a good time with that
alright, enough lollygaggin, time to clean this pigsty and get some company stuff done

ps is isolationism a realistic interaction policy with the rest of the world, and is the 'right to privacy' real or necessary, things to consider on a somber 5-year anniversary

LCF Club first meeting

yeah, so that didn't go so well
i had 2 kids show up to the first meeting
and then a third after it was over
i need at least 5 to actually hold the class
but i had a fourth call today so that helps
and the two girls who were there said they'd be recruiting
so i guess we'll find out next tuesday if this thing is going to fly this winter or if i'll have to wait and try it in the spring
